Sweetwater District February 1, 2014 EPT/ELM Exams

The California State University (CSU) requires you to take the English Placement Test (EPT) and the Entry Level Mathematics (ELM) exam prior to enrollment in the CSU. Your scores will determine which Math and English courses you should take to begin your career at CSU. You may be exempt from taking the EPT or ELM based on your scores earned on other appropriate tests such as the CSU's Early Assessment Program (EAP) tests in English and Mathematics, the SAT®, ACT®, or Advanced Placement® (AP). This site will determine if you are exempt as part of the registration process. For more information about the EPT and ELM click on the
EPT/ELM Information Bulletin (PDF)

.As part of its Compact for Success, San Diego State University is pleased to offer a special administration of the CSU English Placement Test (EPT) and Entry Level Mathematics (ELM) Exam on Saturday, February 1, 2014 specifically designed for seniors in the Sweetwater Union High School District. The exams will be offered remotely at Sweetwater High School in National City and additional support staff will be available on the day of the exam. The combined EPT/ELM will be administered as well as separate sessions for just the EPT and the ELM alone.

Registration is online at www.ets.org/csu. Click on the registration link on the right-hand side and follow the directions for the desired exam(s). During the registration process, select “San Diego State University” as the location and “February 1, 2014” as the date. Your admission ticket will automatically contain reporting information for this special administration at Sweetwater High School.

Students may not register for the EPT or ELM if they have previously satisfied the requirement through EAP, ACT, or SAT score; also, the EPT may be taken only once. While the ELM can be attempted more than once, students taking the ELM at the Sweetwater administration may NOT also take it at any CSUbetween January 13 and February 8, 2014.

The cost for each exam is $18 ($36 if you are taking both the EPT and the ELM) and is payable by credit card at the time you register, not the day of the exam.

If you have any questions prior to the test, please contact John Gaughen in the Testing Office at jgaughen@mail.sdsu.edu.
