The 2017 Scholarship for San Diego County

The 2017 Scholarship for San Diego County will  be Available Online on January 16th!
Up to $5,000
 The Deadline to apply is Thursday, March 1, 2018.
Attached is a flyer for distribution.

Scholarship Criteria

1. Must be attending an San Diego County Public High School.
2. Must be a 12th grade student enrolling in a four-year College or University.
3. Must have a minimum weighted GPA of 3.5 from 9th grade to the first semester of 12th grade.
4. Must have a minimum SAT score of 1060 (test scores on or after 3/2016) or 1500 (test scores prior to 3/2016) -OR- minimum ACT score of 21.
5. Must be enrolled in and/or have passed Advanced Placement courses (AP courses).
6. Must be at or below HUD Income Guidelines.

7. Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident.
8. Must show evidence of extracurricular activities such as school activities, community involvement, and/or employment.
9. Community Service from 9th grade to first semester of 12th grade (minimum of 40 hours).

It’s time to complete your FINANCIAL AID application! Whether you plan to do community college, technical school, military, work, or 4-year university, our goal is to have 100% of our seniors do their financial aid application to ensure you have the $MONEY$ to continue school if you choose to do so!



Please remember there is a deadline for the FAFSA! If you don’t fill it out in time, you may be ineligible for FREE MONEY for COLLEGE!

See any of the counselors afterschool if you need help. Parents are welcome to come afterschool also!

The 20th Annual Summer Internship Program for High School Students

The San Diego Section of the Marine Technology Society is proud to announce its 20th annual summer internship program. The MTS Program will provide a six-week summer experience for motivated high school students, hosted by one of MTS’s corporate sponsors.

Students will be provided with a hands-on science/technology experience, building important scientific, technical and employment skills under the direction of a workplace mentor.

Students will also receive a stipend of at least $2400 upon successful completion of the program.

Applicants:
  • Must be at least 16 years old on July 1, 2018.
  • Must be starting the 11th or 12th grade in the fall of 2018.
  • Must have a 3.5 GPA or better.
  • Must submit a complete application (please see link below)
Timeline:
.The completed Application Form must be received by January 15, 2018.

Interviews and Student Selection will occur during Feb-May 2018.
All students interviewed will be contacted about the status of their application.
Final Student Selection will occur in late May/early June 2018.
Internships begin in early July 2018
