Wellness Wednesday: Focus on the Good

Happy Wellness Wednesday!

Today is a busy day. PSAT, PLC, Faculty Meeting – and for me, I’m taking my eldest on his middle school tour tonight! Eek!

Yet, in the hustle and bustle of each day, it is important to reflect on what went well and plan for bigger and greater things for tomorrow.

Self-Care Tip:
Take a moment at the end of each day and list a few good things that have happened. This can help refocus your emotions on all the positive things that happen each day, even when it doesn’t seem like it.

Kindness Challenge:
Pick up 5 pieces of trash on your way to class after nutrition break and lunch.

There will be no relaxation lounge today at lunch due to our alternative schedule.

Have a wonderful day!

 use mine every day!

2019 LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS INFORMATION

The annual Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project (APYLP) conference provides a select group of 50 Asian and Pacific Islander seniors and juniors from public, private and charter high schools throughout California with a unique opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of the legislative process, community leadership, and political activism.

During the four-day, three-night conference, students will participate in a Mock Legislature at the State Capitol that includes the election of peer legislative leaders, lively debate of current issues through the introduction of legislation, and the lobbying of bills during committee hearings and the Senate floor session.

Additionally, small group workshops facilitated by Asian Pacific legislative staff, community activists, and business leaders will assist students in developing their leadership and public speaking skills, enhance their cultural awareness and identity, and explore the richness and diversity of Asian and Pacific Islander communities in California.

Wellness Wednesday: Letting Go

The weather is cooler and the nights are crisp. Find some time before bed to reflect on the day’s events and set intentions for a new day.

Self-Care Tip:
Take five to 10 minutes before bed to focus on what’s going on inside. Notice any parts of you that don’t feel relaxed. Invite them closer, listen to them, pay close attention and discover what their worries, fears, concerns, or other feelings are. Witness each part. Once all parts have relaxed, confirm with yourself that everything’s going to be all right and fall blissfully into sweet dreams.

Kindness Challenge:
Write to a former teacher that impacted you. Just as we all love to hear from our students and how we’ve made an impact on their personal and academic growth, those who have helped us become the great educators we are would love to hear from us as well =)

Please continue to encourage students to experience the Wellness Wednesday Relaxation Lounge in the Counseling Center at lunch on Wednesdays. It’s the perfect spot to de-stress and decompress. Nurse Wegener also has a relaxation space for students who need.

Have a wonderful day all!
