Community Service Opportunity next Saturday, September 9th

Youth in Action and the Imperial Beach Arts Bureau will host a clean-up next Saturday, September 9th, from 9 am to 12 pm. We will meet at 518 Lark Wy, Imperial Beach, CA 91932, and make our way to the Rock Snake that leads to the Bayshore Bikeway.

The Rock Snake is a path lined with painted rocks created by young people in Imperial Beach. It is currently covered with overgrown weeds and litter. We need your help to restore this Southbay gem!

By participating in the clean-up, you can earn:
4 hours of community service (be sure to get the form from your school counselor)
A letter of recommendation (an alternate option if you don't need community service hours)

Teens for Healthy Relationships

Maintaining healthy teen relationships requires communication, respect, and empathy. Openly discussing feelings and concerns fosters understanding. Respect for each other's boundaries and individuality is crucial. Building trust through honesty helps establish a strong foundation. Empathy allows for supporting each other through challenges.

Balancing time with friends and personal pursuits ensures independence. Addressing conflicts calmly and finding compromises strengthens bonds. Digital communication should be mindful, promoting face-to-face interaction. Encouraging personal growth and celebrating achievements cultivates a positive environment.

Ultimately, nurturing these aspects creates fulfilling relationships that contribute to emotional well-being and personal development during the formative teen years and beyond.

SUHi Wellness Message #1

Welcome Sweetwater High School students to the first monthly wellness message of the year.

This month we are focusing on positive affirmations. Positive affirmations are happy thoughts and are a great way to get yourself in the proper mindset to achieve your dreams so let’s start the school year right with some positive self-affirmations:

1. I am smart.
2. I am capable.
3. I am successful.
4. I am important.
5. I am ready to do well.

These affirmations can be used to bring positive energy and a more open mind to any area of your daily life. You can use these affirmations or make some of your own. Remember, your words have power. Find the right words to change and inspire your life or inspire you every day.

From your SUHi Counselors

If you or someone you know is experiencing emotional distress, please call or text 988 to speak with a trained crisis counselor 24/7/365.
