SAT PREP WITH THE MATH MAGICIAN !
SAT PREP COURSE
ONE WEEK SUMMER BOOT CAMP!
Olympian High School PTSO is once again partnering with the MATH MAGICIAN, Steve Reiss, to offer students an intensive SAT Summer Prep Course. The Course will include 3 days of SAT preparation. Materials will be provided from the College Board. Classes will review all three areas of the SAT (Reading, Writing, and Mathematics). Students will be given homework assignments to enhance their understanding of concepts covered in class.
Dates: June 10, 12, 14 (MWF)
Time: 9 am – Noon
Location: OHS, room 215
Cost: $125 for OHS PTSO Members
$150 for Non- Members
Instructor Steve Reiss is the owner of the Reiss SAT Seminars. He has taught more than 300 SAT/ACT seminars, including 53 in the Sweetwater School District. He has also authored, co-authored, and edited 51 test preparation books for Barrons, Workman Publishing, and Peterson/Arco. Reiss is also a member of Mensa, the High IQ Society, which grants membership to the top 2% of SAT/ACT test takers. Visit his websites at www.reisssat.com and www.themathmagician.com.
Class is limited to 25 students! Deadline to register: June 5, 2019 or sooner if class is filled.
TO REGISTER ONLINE, go to the Olympian High School website. Click on the “Parents” tab, drop down to “Parent Involvement,” click on “PTSO.” To become a PTSO member and pay the member rate, scroll down to “Become a PTSO Member” and click on “Join PTSO.” You do not need to create a profile or login information. To register for the prep course, click on “Register for Summer Boot Camp.” Complete registration for Summer 2019 Bootcamp.
**Please note that unlike the 6-week prep course, this course does not include administering 4-hour practice tests.
**No refunds once course starts. Refunds before course starts are subject to a cancellation fee of up to $50.

Youth and Employers Wanted! I'm Ready Program
The National City Chamber of Commerce and South
County Economic Development Council invite youth interns and employers to
participate in the I’m
Ready program to support economic vitality in the south
region.
Together, we are committing
to touch the lives of 30 youth, ages 18-24, who reside in 3 communities,
namely National City, Logan Heights, and Chula Vista. The
program will take place during the month of June and July, 2019.
This 3 part
program provides an essential support network to connect youth with
opportunities. These program elements include:
1) Financial literacy training and case management;
2) Leadership development training; and
3) Career readiness including professional internships.

YMCA LIT Summer Volunteer Program | Community Service Opportunity
Summer is around the corner & I hope this email serves as a resource for your students looking for community service opportunities over the break.
I wanted bring to your attention the YMCA program called Leaders In Training (LIT).
The LIT program is a comprehensive job readiness program that prepares and provides high school students with the opportunity for a hands on work experience as a YMCA Jr. Camp Counselor (Please see attached for Dates). Trainings are held at our South Bay Family YMCA Teen Center at 820 Paseo Ranchero in Chula Vista.
LIT Training modules include:
• CPR/First Aid Certification
• Leadership Development
• Resume Workshop
• Interview skills
• Youth Development
• Basic Supervision and more…
Once trained they are eligible to participate in LIT Placement where they work side by side with a camp staff and receive up to 40 hrs. of community service per week worked. Your students will gain valuable work experience that can lead to opportunities for careers working with children including the YMCA.
Although there is a cost for the program there is value gained with the work experience, certifications, and trainings modules offered.
If eligible scholarships are available.
