Wellness Wednesday: Let's Talk

It's Wellness Wednesday Red Devils.

We hope this message finds you healthy and safe.

If you have been impacted by the recent events, take a break - there is a lot going on and sometimes we all just need a minute. Take that minute.

Take a moment for an honest, reflective, and productive conversation about what actions we can take to support the Black community and each other.

Consider the following statements and select the one that best describes how you feel.
•I would rather not talk about race/racism.
•I am very uncomfortable talking about race/racism.
•I am usually uncomfortable talking about race/racism.
•I am sometimes uncomfortable talking about race/racism.
•I am usually comfortable talking about race/racism.
•I am very comfortable talking about race/racism.

Then use a sentence-stem activity to self-reflect.
•The hard part of talking about race/racism is …
•The beneficial part of talking about race/racism is …

It’s normal to feel discomfort as you reflect on your own experiences with racial inequality and deepen your understanding of racism. The conversations may not necessarily get easier, but your ability to press toward more meaningful dialogue will expand. Stay engaged; the journey is worth the effort.

Let's Talk today.

As the year comes to an end, we are very proud of our staff, students, and parents in ALL the changes we’ve had to endure this school year. Change is not always easy, but with the support of others the burden is a bit lighter.

We hope you have a restful summer vacation. We look forward to working with you all again next school year.

Congratulations to the Class of 2020. You have definitely been the example of perseverance and determination, patience and grace. Best wishes to you all for a bright future. May all your dreams and wishes be yours!

Be Well Red Devils,
