Many colleges and universities require different college assessments to determine admissions and placement.
If you plan on applying to a CSU or UC, the SAT or ACT are a required part of your application process. Private schools have varied requirements.
A higher score can typically increases your chances of admissions.
SAT and/or ACT are not required by community colleges however, most community colleges have their own assessments that are part of their enrollment process.
If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, then you are eligible for a SAT/ACT fee waiver. You can utilize up to 2 waivers per test. We encourage students who are planning to attend a university right after high school to plan to take their 1st exam towards the end of their junior year and their 2nd exam at the beginning of senior year.
SAT/ACT prep are often offered throughout the district and are highly recommended. You can also utilize online prep programs.
