Wellness Wednesday: Just Breathe #BeWellRedDevils

Happy Wellness Wednesday!

Inhale….Exhale…

Inhale and count 4...3...2…1…

Hold your breath and count 7…6…5…4…3…2…1…

Exhale and count 8…7…6…5…4…3…2…1…

The 4-7-8 breathing technique requires a person to focus on taking a long, deep breath in and out. Rhythmic breathing is a core part of many meditation practices as it promotes relaxation and can help with the following:

· reducing anxiety

· helping a person get to sleep

· managing cravings

· controlling or reducing anger responses

Because YELLOW stands for happiness, positivity, energy, optimism, and joy, we are asking for our campus community to wear YELLOW on Wednesdays to help promote our Wellness Wednesday efforts.

In collaboration with Wellness Wednesday, Mr. Garcia and the Peer Mediators will be hosting a GLOBAL FORGIVENESS DAY activity at lunch on Aug 27 and 28 outside room 506. Come by and create a “I’m Sorry” gram to share the spirit of forgiveness.

Self-Care Tip:
Lay on the floor on your back with your eyes closed for five minutes (or longer) and just breathe.

Kindness Challenge:

Affective Statement:

Wellness Wednesday: Begin with Gratitude #BeWellRedDevils

Happy Wellness Wednesday Red Devils!

It’s week 4 into the semester and it’s a great time to say “thank you” to someone who has made the first few weeks of the semester good for you!

Because YELLOW stands for happiness, positivity, energy, optimism, and joy, we are asking for our campus community to wear YELLOW on Wednesdays to help promote our Wellness Wednesday efforts.

Self-Care Tip: Write a list of things you’re grateful to have in your life and post it somewhere you can see it often. We have a tendency to focus on the negative, so remind yourself of the good stuff.

Kindness Challenge: Write positive affirmations or inspirational quotes on small pieces of paper, then hide them in random places for strangers to find.

Affective Statement: I am so pleased to see/hear…

We also invite you to encourage you to visit our Wellness Wednesday lounge in the counseling center at lunch every Wednesday. It’s the perfect spot to de-stress and decompress.

Wellness Wednesday: Happiness Happens Day #BeWellRedDevils

Happy Wellness Wednesday!

August 8 is Happiness Happens Day, a day to celebrate all things happy. Created by the Secret Society of Happy People in 1999 as Admit You're Happy Day, this unofficial holiday encourages people to be open about their happiness and to share it with others.

Why are you happy today?

Because YELLOW stands for happiness, positivity, energy, optimism, and joy, we are asking for our campus community to wear YELLOW on Wednesdays to help promote our Wellness Wednesday efforts.

Self-Care
In the morning, listen to music that inspires, motivates, and makes you happy.

Collection of relaxing music

Kindness Challenge
Tell someone that they make you happy and how. Feel free to share it. Use #HappinessHappensDay to post on social media and let others know to do the same.

Affective Statement
I’m so thankful that…

We also invite you to encourage students to visit our Wellness Wednesday lounge in the counseling center at lunch every Wednesday. It’s the perfect spot to de-stress and decompress.
