Wellness Wednesday: Be the Best You Can Be

Everyone wants to become the best version of themselves, but few actually do it. We’re our own worst enemies when it comes to achieving success, chasing our dreams, and living a life that’s filled with passion and purpose.

It’s a long journey to the top of the mountain, but it’s completely obtainable and totally worth the effort. Start climbing today, and you’ll be well on your way before you even start feeling the pain.

Read more here:
https://www.lifehack.org/articles/communication/starting-today-stop-these-6-things-become-the-best-version-yourself.html

Self-Care Tip: Listen to your body. Be thankful for what it can do.

Kindness Challenge: Join a friend in doing one of their hobbies. Find out why they enjoy doing it.

The Sweetwater High Counseling Team would like to say thank you all for your continued support and collaboration. It is our pleasure to work with the SUHi community. Please view our National School Counseling messages here.

Because YOU play the most important role at our school in keeping our campus safe, don't forget if you see something, say something

Because YELLOW stands for happiness, positivity, energy, optimism, and joy, we are asking for our campus community to wear YELLOW on Wednesdays to help promote our Wellness Wednesday efforts.

We all need someone to talk to, someone who listens, and someone who understands. Your Sweetwater High School Counselors are here for you. Click here to complete the SUHi Wellness Check-In. Your counselor will reach out to you 😀

Fostering Self Esteem Event

What is MHAM ?

MHAM is a student-led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in the greater San Diego area. We are dedicated to providing mental health education and resources to minority communities, including low-income communities, communities of color, and the LGBTQ+ community. You can learn more about us by visiting our website (linked here), or following us on Instagram @mha4min.

Fostering Self Esteem Event

Our virtual Fostering Self Esteem event will be held virtually on Saturday, April 30th at 1PM PST. The purpose of this event is to provide helpful information for marginalized students that will assist them in developing healthy self-esteem within societal structures that attempt to make them feel inferior. We would love to see some of your students there. If you are able to relay this information to them, along with the attached flier, it would be greatly appreciated.

Registration:
Our event is completely free. Students can register via the Google Form linked in our Instagram bio. The deadline to register is Friday, April 29th at 11:59 PM.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to

Global Health Leaders Conference at Johns Hopkins University

On behalf of the Board of Directors of The Global Health Leaders Conference at Johns Hopkins University, I would like to invite your students in grades 9-12 who are interested in global health and medicine to apply to participate in our 2022 virtual program.

Our international conference is a Johns Hopkins University student and faculty-led program; at our conference, students learn about issues in global health, public health, and medicine through world-class lectures from leaders in these fields, forge connections with like-minded exceptional students, and share their own work and ideas on global health-related topics at the international scale by having the opportunity to present in our student speaker series. Featured speakers at our conference have included leading global health researchers, physicians, policy developers, and Nobel Prize winners. In short, the purpose of our program is to develop the next generation of leaders in global health, public health, and medicine.

Virtual conference programming (such as featured speaker presentations, student presentations, etc.) will be held throughout the late spring/early summer of 2022. The conference fee for admitted students is $49 USD; if the fee places a significant financial burden on a student’s family, financial assistance is available as we do not want the fee to be a barrier for any deserving student. There are no application fees.

The conference application is available on our website (https://glohea.org) and will be open until March 13th, 2022. Admission into our program is competitive, so we highly encourage students to apply as early as possible.

Please do not hesitate to email us at ghlcjhu@glohea.org or visit our website if you would like any clarification or have any questions. I have attached a conference flyer to this email, and we hope your interested students will take advantage of this opportunity - we look forward to reviewing their applications!

Wellness Wednesday: You Are a Good Person

Happy Wellness Wednesday!

YOU ARE A GOOD PERSON.

Yes, you.

You deserve to be treated well by others. You deserve to be loved and respected. You deserve to be happy. You deserve to have your needs met. You are worth investing time and energy into. You are capable of great things. Your feelings are important. You have power and wisdom inside of you. What you want matters. Read more here.

Self-Care Tip:
Ask yourself. Will this matter 5 days, 5 months, or 5 years from now?

Kindness Challenge: Focus on being kind, rather than being right.

The Sweetwater High Counseling Team would like to say thank you all for your continued support and collaboration. It is our pleasure to work with the SUHi community. Please view our National School Counseling messages here.
