UCSD High School Conference

This conference operates to give local San Diego high school students of diverse communities the opportunity to get information about the resources available to them in order to get into higher education institutions. The purpose of this program is to reach out to high school students and show them that higher education and the means to get there are not intimidating when they have the knowledge and the information on how to to get there. We would like to provide students with that information and thereby inspire them to pursue higher education whether through community college and transfer routes or through the straight path into four-year universities. We would like to foster this by also allowing them spaces to talk about their identities, struggles, and the structures that contribute to the former two.

We would like to invite the students of Sweetwater High School to attend this conference. We are hoping that you could spread the news about this conference to all your high school students and see if any of them would be interested in attending. We are working on advertising material to come and bring to your high schools, to maybe put around or hand out to teachers. We will be following up with you in the next few days to confirm that you have receive this email, and if your school is on board for the conference, to further discuss what means of outreach you plan to use and other logistics.

This is the first year that the Associated Students External Affairs Office of UCSD is putting on a high school conference and we really need your help to spread this information!

Here is the application that students need to fill out in order to participate:
The deadline to apply is March 3rd.
Attached is a flyer with all the information.

Please feel free to email or call me for more information about the External Affairs Office or this conference and I will be happy to provide it for you.

We hope to hear from you soon!
Sincerely,
Savini Ganhewa
