For Parents: Financial Aid and Scholarship Opportunities in California

 Join the San Diego County Office of Education as we provide a FREE virtual space for parents and community members to learn about financial aid opportunities in California. Session 6 is scheduled for Thursday, April 27th at 4:30 p.mThis session, led by Cal-SOAP, will include the importance of applying for financial aid, what financial aid is available, and how to apply for and receive support to complete the financial aid process. This workshop will provide professional learning and resources to support local educational agencies to design and implement new and expanded ways to increase the number of 12th graders to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act application (CDAA).Please see the attached flyer for registration and session information. Translation/Interpretation is available. Please be sure to specify the language needed when completing the registration form.

 
Purpose:
  • Learn about the All In Campaign by the California Student Aid Commission.
  • Discuss how completion of the FAFSA or CDAA will enhance the lives of students.
  • Understand the state requirements (AB 469) for high schools to develop a financial aid plan to encourage and track high school 12th graders’ completion of financial aid forms.
  • Hear how community partners can collaborate with schools and Cal-SOAP.

Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA) SDSU Annual High School Conference

The Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA) at San Diego State University is pleased to announce its Annual High School Conference taking place on April 22nd, 2023 from 9:00am to 3:00pm at SDSU's Theatre.


HBSA’s mission for our Annual High School Conference is to bring diverse students onto a college campus and instill higher education into their minds. We hope to invoke professionalism and leadership development that will help students succeed throughout their academic and individual careers.

Interested in the Medical Field?

MedReach at UCLA is pleased to invite high school students across California to our Healthcare seminar on May 20th, 2023 from 12 PM - 2 PM located on our very own UCLA campusAt this seminar, students will learn about various healthcare careers, participate in mock case studies to better understand the role of healthcare providers, and engage in fun activities to challenge their knowledge of medical terminology! Students will also have the opportunity to ask a panel of pre-health college students their questions regarding college applications, career choices, academics, and more! Additionally, MedReach is offering a mentorship program available to all students. High school students will be specifically paired with a pre-health college student as their mentor, to offer guidance curated to students’ academic, professional, and career goals. If interested, fill out the following form which will help our organization to pair you with the appropriate mentor. This program is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Pasifika High School Conference

Aloha, Talofa, Kia Orona, Hafa Adai, Ia Orona, Mālō e lelei Mrs. Morris!

We’d like to cordially invite your Pacific Islander students to attend the People of Pasifika High School Conference & Showcase on Thursday, May 25th from 8 am - 2:45 pm. The conference is hosted by the Morse Islander Student Association at Morse High School in San Diego.

Our conference will include workshops, networking opportunities, speakers, and the chance to participate in our showcase. Our mission is to provide a sense of belonging and understanding for students who identify as Pacific Islanders or who wish to learn about the Pacific Islander community. Our conference seeks to promote and perpetuate its mission through diversity, education, community, and respect for Pacific Islander cultures.

This event is a great opportunity for your students to attend this cultural enrichment field trip and network with other students from similar backgrounds! If you have no PI Club, we are open to welcoming your PI students with a chaperone.
