USD STEAM Conference FREE
The University of San Diego is hosting a FREE one day Science,
Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) Youth and Community Conference
to mobilize the community to provide new pathways for youth to ignite, develop
and pursue their STEAM interests, while simultaneously elevating the STEAM

Fire Fighter Explorer Program
NOW RECRUITING!!!
THE POSITION: The Chula Vista Fire Explorers were developed in 1989, and are sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America. The goal is to introduce young men and women to the activities related to the fire service. This training develops character, responsibility and team work in the participant.
STANDARDS: AGE: Minimum 16 years of age at time of hire date. Maximum: 21 years of age.
CERTIFICATIONS: After obtaining a first aid card, a cardiopulmonary resuscitation card, and successful completion of their six-month exam; Fire Explorers may participate in a ride-along program.
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES: Fire Explorers must have the ability to follow orders and directions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the public; ability to learn firefighting techniques, policies, practices and operations; knowledge of safe working practices and procedures; physical condition appropriate to perform the duties of this job classification.

Class Changes for 2017-2018 School Year
Students and parents who are wanting to request a schedule change can do so after school on the designated times and dates (see below). Parents are more than welcomed to accompany their student, but it is not required.
Class changes are dependent on class capacity and seat availability. Class changes are considered after the third day of school to best account for our overall enrollment.

1) teacher changes - unless you have had the teacher in the past and earned a D/F in the course
2) period changes
We will only honor changes for:
1) classes that differ from original request
2) incorrect course level - for example, student is a 9th grader in 10th grade classes (students should see counselor immediately during period of conflict)
3) missing or double periods (students should see counselor immediately during period of conflict)4) student is taking a course they already took - for example, a student is enrolled in Chemistry but already took the course (students should see counselor immediately during period of conflict)

Community Service with Stronghold Kids Club!
Stronghold Kids Club is a start-up non-profit organization that aims to provide youth with free to low-cost opportunities to participate in Martial Arts, Fitness, Self-Defense, Mentorship, Wellness Education, Enrichment activities (Chess, LEGO, Nerf, Arts/Crafts, etc.) and Community Outreach in the greater San Diego area. We are looking for volunteers who may be interested in helping us grow.
These are our current needs:
-Teaching Kids Enrichment Classes
-Social Media Outreach/Marketing
-Community Outreach and Fundraising Projects
-Grant Writing
-Event Planning
