YMCA program called Leaders In Training (LIT)

Summer is around the corner & we know you are looking for community service opportunities!

There is an amazing YMCA program called Leaders In Training (LIT)!
The LIT program is a compressive job readiness program that prepares and provides high school students with the opportunity for a hands on work experience as a YMCA Jr. Camp Counselor.

LIT Training modules include:· CPR/First Aid Certification
· Leadership Development
· Resume Workshop
· Interview skills
· Youth Development
· Basic Supervision and more…

Once trained they are eligible to participate in LIT Placement where they work side by side with a camp staff and receive up to 40 hrs. of community service per week worked. Through this program students gain valuable work experience that can open up doors for jobs at the YMCA- Many of our LIT’s who stay in Chula Vista for College receive after-school youth leader positions.

Although there is a cost for the program there is value gained with the work experience and trainings modules offered. If eligible scholarships are available.

Please feel free to contact me with further questions.
