On behalf of this year’s organizing committee, I would like
to invite you and your students to attend the Sweetwater District’s 18th
Annual Adelante Latino Conference.
This year’s conference will take place at Olympian High
School on Saturday February 22nd from 8 am – 2 pm. Our
featured keynote speaker will be artist and community organizer, Macedonio
Arteaga. We will feature 17 career and college-oriented workshops from
Latino male professionals and students will have an opportunity to attend 3
sessions of their choice. Please see attached flier and registration
form.
Students will receive a free continental breakfast and lunch
and some limited transportation will be provided for schools that are furthest
from Olympian High. We are limiting this year’s attendance to the first
400 middle and high school students who register.
Each school should have a designated contact person who is
responsible for registering students. Our next conference committee
meeting is Thursday January 30th at 3:30 pm in the District
Office Board Conference Room. Please make sure your school has a designated
contact person and send them to this meeting, where we will be discussing
registration and final logistics.
