California Legislative Black Caucus (CLBC) California Scholars

For more than five years, the California Legislative Black Caucus (CLBC) California Scholars program has proudly recognized and rewarded the educational excellence and personal achievement of California college-bound high school seniors and accomplished post-secondary students enrolled in colleges and universities.
The CLBC California Scholars program awards financial assistance scholarships to a select group of deserving students. College costs can be a roadblock to educational opportunities for students striving to complete their college education.
The financial scholarship assistance provided by the CLBC California Scholars program helps qualified students pay for a portion of their college costs.

Want to be a Mechanic?

The PACT and T-TEN programs are a part of the automotive certificate/degree program. The cost in the past has been approximately $3,000.00 for the 2.5 year program, but the fees are changing at the state level and we are unsure of the new per unit cost. I would estimate another $1,000 - 1,500.00.

The training consists of general knowledge of the 8 ASE areas, plus the Honda or Toyota specific training in those areas. Our program allows for completion of the automotive program with or without the completion of the academic classes, although we encourage all our students to complete the A.S. degree in automotive.

The program starts once every year in the summer, and continues for an additional 4 semesters. You can apply for financial aid through the college, but I am not aware of the specifics. In between the first and second year, we try to arrange for summer internships, usually to a dealership near your home.

You can visit the Miramar Automotive website at http://www.sdmiramar.edu/academics/automotive for additional information. The logos near the bottom of the pages are live links to the manufacturers websites.

If you want to join either the Toyota T-TEN or Honda PACT program, please follow these steps:
  1. E-mail me your Name and cell phone number, and a brief note stating which program you prefer. This will get you on the candidate mailing list.
  2. I will record your contact information and notify you by e-mail in April or May to come in for an orientation.
  3. A tour of the facility can be arranged by appointment prior to the orientation.

Thank you for your interest in our program,
