Volunteer Programs at Science Center

We have summer camps coming up from June 13, 2016-August 19, 2016 (Spring camp counselor spots have already filled!). If your students are interested in being a camp counselor at the Fleet, please have them apply soon. Being a camp counselor at the Fleet instills leadership, social awareness and provides an opportunity to spend school breaks doing something that will make an impact in the community!Applicants have to attend an interview and an orientation in order to get their shifts confirmed. The application can be found here- https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?ap=43324702.

We also have an ongoing program full of exciting opportunities that take place right inside the museum! These opportunities include playing a guest service role by welcoming our visitors and making sure that they have a great time at the Fleet, roaming the galleries and helping our visitors play and learn, participating in our educational activities as well as Tinkering away in our creative Tinkering Studio. These positions all develop strong communication skills, leadership and foster creativity! Students interested in volunteering in one of these positions can apply here- https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?AP=1776123444. Students also need to attend an interview and orientation prior to getting started.

If you have a great service club on campus, they are able to apply as a group and participate in one-time special volunteer opportunities by applying here- https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?ap=1893551183. One time opportunities might include museum beautification projects, participating in special science festivals like our annual “Impossible Science Festival,” or setting up a day to come in and facilitate hands on learning demos for our visitors! A service club also has the opportunity to commit as a club to one week of summer camps (or more if available).
