My name is Fernando Gil and I am currently serving as the Outreach Chair for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers at UC San Diego. We will be hosting our 9th annual SHPE Empower High School Conference on Saturday, April 20th from 8:00am - 4:00pm.
This is an outreach effort dedicated to inspiring high school students to follow a career in the STEM field.
This event is FREE for students in grades 9-12, all we ask is that they register on our website (http://shpe.ucsd.edu/empower/) come February when registration opens.
Students who attend the conference will have the opportunity to work in teams on hands-on activities and workshops, network with UCSD students and faculty, and learn about the many opportunities that a degree in STEM can lead them to. They will also be given food and a free t-shirt!
We hope to get as many students as possible to come out to this event. I am attaching the flyer below, please use it to help share this information with any student that may be interested.
If you have any questions please feel free to email me here, or at shpeucsd.outreach@gmail.com.
