Prepare for the PSAT

Welcome back to the new school year! It’s hard to believe that the PSAT is just around the corner.

SUHI will be administering the PSAT to most 9-11 graders on October 19th, 2016.

For many families, this is the kick off to the college admissions process.

Beginning October 1st, Kaplan’s highly-rated faculty will cover the most important PSAT content and tackle practice problems in 8 livestreaming, one-hour lessons.

In addition, students will have access to online study content and detailed explanations to the official PSAT practice test.

For more details and to register, please visit www.kaptest.com/psatpreplive.

As always, I want to make sure you and families on your campus remain informed of Kaplan’s programs and how we can best assist your school.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly with any questions you may have.  Wishing you and your school community a wonderful year ahead!
Best regards,

Need Help Logging Into Infinite Campus?

Common Parent Questions
Infinite Campus

How do I access Infinite Campus?

Infinite Campus keeps requesting a District ID#. What is the District ID#?
District ID# FCPXPV

How do I create an account with Infinite Campus?
You should have created an account when you registered for this school year. However, for those who do not have an account follow these instructions:
  • The parents can create a portal account by using their Campus Activation Key. If you have your activation key, on the home screen press “help” on the bottom left. This will drop down an option to continue using the key.
  • If you do not have an activation key, please have them call 619-793-7731 to retrieve the code.
What is the number to call if I experience other issues with Infinite Campus?
Infinite Campus Sweetwater Hotline: 619-796-7745

Is my Infinite Campus portal similar to my son or daughter’s portal?
Your portal is almost identical. However, if you have multiple children, you will be able to view each of their grades/attendance separately but through the same account.

Where can I learn more about navigating through Infinite Campus?
There are some helpful youtube videos and tutorials through YouTube.

Why are some teachers using Infinite Campus for “in-progress” grades and others are using Jupiter?
This is a transition year for our teachers. While you may find your child’s teachers posting “in progress” grades through Jupiter, you may also find some teachers posting “in progress” grades through Infinite Campus. However, every grading period (progress reports & semester grades) will be posted under “grades” on Infinite Campus.

What will I be able to find on Infinite Campus?
You will find detailed information about your child’s attendance. All progress report grades and semester grades for each of your child’s classes will be posted on Infinite Campus under “grades”.

Can I send emails to teachers through Infinite Campus? What about Jupiter?
Email addresses of teachers can be accessed through Infinite Campus by selecting the envelope icon next to the teacher’s name. Messages can also be sent through Jupiter to teachers for the remainder of the year.

The following is the format for student to login.Username = Student ID
Password = first letter of fistname first letter of lastname then mmddyy
Example:

After-School Activities Calendar

Revised SAT numbers and Averages for Fall 2016 SDSU Admitted Students

SDSU will be taking the new portion of the SAT called Evidence Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) in lieu of the Critical Reading section to compute an applicant's eligibility to the CSU. The new EBRW score is still scored the same way, with a score between 200-800, just like the Critical Reading section and math.

With a recalibration, the minimum Eligibility Index needed to be CSU eligible is now a 2950. Per the memo, this will be grandfathered in and 2900 students are still CSU eligible for fall 2017. Given the impaction of SDSU's campus, students will still need to be competitive to gain admissions. For fall 2018, all would need to meet at least the 2950 to be considered.

Clearing Remediation:
The new minimum score needed on the SAT EBRW test to clear English remediation is 550 whereas the old Critical Reading score was a 500.

The new minimum score needed on the new SAT Math to clear remediation is 570, up from 500 last year.

The SAT conditionally ready scores for SAT EBRW are now the ranges 510-540, up from 460-490 previously.

The SAT conditionally ready scores for SAT Math are now 520-560, up from 490-540 previously.

Students cannot superscore between old and new tests, but can still superscore within the same version of the test. We will take both the old and the new tests for fall 2017-fall 2020 applicants, though the vast vast majority will have the new version only.

In case anyone is curious about the general differences between the new and old test, please see the following link: http://sat.ivyglobal.com/new-vs-old/

Fall 2016 Averages
Our new averages for fall 2016 admitted students are:
  • A 3.85 GPA with 1174 SAT (old test critical reading and math) and 27 AC
