Wellness Wednesday: ACT #EachMindMatters

Happy Wellness Wednesday!

Monday marked the beginning of Suicide Prevention Week. During this week individuals and organizations around the country join their voices together in order to broadcast the message that suicide can be prevented, and to give as many people as possible the tools and resources to support themselves and those around them. Remember, if you know of someone who needs help: ACT!

Acknowledge: Do take it seriously. If you recognize warning signs in your friend or loved one, it is very important to take them seriously.

Care: Do let the person know you care and understand. Continue to be available to your friend and show interest and support.

Tell: Do get professional help immediately. Reach out to a trusted adult on campus or assist them by contacting a mental health professional through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255). You can also call 911 or assist them with getting to the nearest emergency room.

Self-Care Tip:Make an inspiration collage and hang it where you can see it. Use it to help generate new ideas and thoughts when you need them.

Kindness Challenge:Ask someone “how are you today?” Practice active listening.

Come and experience the Wellness Wednesday Relaxation Lounge in the Counseling Center at lunch on Wednesdays. It’s the perfect spot to de-stress and decompress. Nurse Wegener also has a relaxation space for students who need.

Have a wonderful day everyone!
