Wellness Wednesday: Helping is Caring
Fall Break is just around the corner! There’s lots to get done. Ask for help if you need it. There’s always someone to lend a helping hand if you ask.
Self-Care Tip:
Ask for help when you need it. It sounds simple, but trying to handle everything without help causes stress and anxiety for a lot people.
There have been many conversations on campus around suicide prevention with the messages being shared by our peer mediators and after-school program in collaboration with Suicide Prevention Month.
One of the most common questions that comes up is: what kinds of actions should you take if someone you know may be thinking about suicide? There is a lot that a single person can do to help prevent suicide, but the biggest thing you can do when facing the issue with someone you know is to listen, and make sure to get them help. We have a list of things that you can say, and resources to connect them to here, as well as a video that covers how to help a friend in need.
Kindness Challenge:
Send an encouraging note, text, or email to someone you know who needs it. An encouraging message to keep focused at the end of the first quarter will be greatly appreciated!
Please continue to encourage students to experience the Wellness Wednesday Relaxation Lounge in the Counseling Center at lunch on Wednesdays. It’s the perfect spot to de-stress and decompress. Nurse Wegener also has a relaxation space for students who need.
Have a wonderful Fall Break everyone! Welln
