Our Safe Place: South March 2021 Events and Updates

Our Safe Space wants to wish everyone a happy and healthy March! Our Safe Space appreciates the community that they work in and continue to provide flexible services for our LGBTQIA+ youth during this time. Our Safe Space acknowledges that we have been challenged with this pandemic for about a year now and understand how difficult it is for the community. Our Safe Space continues to ask you all to keep practicing self-care and remember how resilient you all are.
 
Our Safe Space is still open daily from 12PM to 8PM providing both ZOOM online services and limited drop in center services at 746 Ada St. Chula Vista, CA 91911. For March here is a brief overview of the services they are currently providing:
 
For LGBTQIA+ youth under 21:
§  Zoom groups every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 4PM and 6PM (email oursafeplace@csbcs.org for ZOOM codes) *please note we cannot give ZOOM codes to caregivers unless given consent from a youth
§  Drop in center services with COVID-19 limitations including a 2-hour max visit, temperature screening and no more than 6 persons in the drop in center. Please wear a face mask when using the space, a staff member can also provide a face mask if needed.
§  One on one meetings and check ins with youth via ZOOM
§  Free therapy for youth who are uninsured, on Medi-Cal or unable to access caregiver insurance
§  Gender affirming items and referrals to affirming community resources
 
For caregivers/parents of LGBTQIA+ youth:
§  March 18th 2021 @6PM Our Safe Place Caregiver Resource fair (email oursafeplace@csbcs.org for ZOOM codes)
§  One on one check in support for caregivers on weekdays from 2PM to 3PM (email oursafeplace@csbcs.org to schedule an appointment)
 
For the community:
§  LGBTQIA+ 101 trainings for educators, professionals, and/or staff working with youth (email oursafeplace@csbcs.org to get info)
§  Workshops and activities for youth led groups via ZOOM
