Wellness Wednesday: Feelings

Happy Wellness Wednesday Red Devils!

A few weeks ago, the counselors were visiting Granger Junior High and National City Middle. In our presentation to the students, we started off with a "check-in". We asked students to identify how they were feeling at that specific moment by holding up a number with their fingers. 1 for feeling great to a 5 for feeling out of control. I would like you to do that right now.

From 1-5, how are you feeling right now?

Acknowledge how you are feeling. It's OK to be a 1 or a 3 or a 5.

We have a range of feelings as our day progresses and it is important for us to identify those feelings when we are having them, and ask ourselves what we can do to help ourselves if we are feeling 3, 4, or 5. Close your eyes and take a deep breathe (or two), take a walk, tense up your muscles and release, or go talk to your trusted person.

SELF-CARE TIP:
Make a list of three things you are looking forward to.

KINDNESS CHALLENGE:
Assume positive intent in others.

Because YOU play the most important role at our school in keeping our campus safe, don't forget if you see something, say something

Because YELLOW stands for happiness, positivity, energy, optimism, and joy, we are asking for our campus community to wear YELLOW on Wednesdays to help promote our Wellness Wednesday efforts.

We all need someone to talk to, someone who listens, and someone who understands. Your Sweetwater High School Counselors are here for you. Click here to complete the SUHi Wellness Check-In. Your counselor will reach out to you 😀

Virtual Wellness Room
Please visit our Virtual Wellness Room to take a break from your daily routine. Do some breathing exercises, stretch, or play a game. It's OK to take a time out for a "brain break".
