SUHSD PSAT Information

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,

The Sweetwater Union High School District will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT exam, free of charge, to our current 11th graders.  The PSAT will be taking place on January 26, 2021.

Why Take The PSAT?

This test offers you a great opportunity to get ready for college. You can:

1. Connect to scholarships. When you take the PSAT/NMSQT it connects you to our scholarship partners, who offer over $220 million annually* in scholarships to qualified low-income and minority students. Be sure to say “yes” to Student Search Service® on the day of the test to make it easy for scholarship partners to find you.

2. Get free, personalized SAT practice. The PSAT/NMSQT is good preparation for the SAT® . Your score also unlocks a personalized SAT study plan on Khan Academy® .

3. Receive AP course recommendations. Your score report will suggest AP® courses that are a great match for you. AP can give you an edge in the admission process and allows you to earn college credit while in high school, which could save you time and money in college.

You have from November 12th - November 17th, 2020 to register. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis to test at your school site.  Seating capacity at each site is limited and there is a possibility that you will be asked to take the exam at another high school.   Please note that the test is being offered at our comprehensive high schools and students are required to report to the site to take the exam in person.  At this time, College Board does not offer online testing.

Cancellation Of The PSAT and Safety Measures

Any student who registers and who wants to cancel taking the exam, can do so at any point in time.  Simply email the AP who oversees PSAT testing at your school site.

Offering the PSAT is dependent upon San Diego County regulations regarding covid and student safety. The PSAT exam is not guaranteed to be offered.  SUHSD may cancel the test at any point up until the day before the exam in the event of in-person testing not being allowed to take place.

All county and district safety protocols will be adhered to.  All students and staff are required to wear a face mask, follow social distancing guidelines, and each person will be screened upon entry to the school site. Hand sanitizer will be made available at key entry points and testing rooms. Student's testing at a school different than the one they attend will be required to provide an official government issued or school ID.
